Chlorine Water CareChlorine Water CareEffective Care with Chlorine Treatment Start UpStart filling spa with a clean garden hose. If you are using well water, attach a fill filter to the end of your garden hose. Put 8 oz of Metal Gone directly into the spa.Power up the spa after the water has covered the highest jet. Turn pump 1, pump 2, and your air blower on high. The jets will shut themselves off after 20 minutes.Let the spa heat to at least 90 degrees. To balance PH & Alk: In Minnesota the PH and alkalinity will generally be high. Add 6 oz of PH decreaser to the spa with the jets on low. Allow the spa to run for 2 cycles (the spa will shut off after 20 mins each time), then add another 6 oz of PH decreaser. Test your water by dipping the test strip into the water. Swirl 3 times and then match the color of the pad to the color on the back of the test strip bottle. STEP 5: Continue adding 2 oz of PH decreaser every 20 minutes with jets on low until PH and alkalinity are balanced. If PH and alkalinity are low, add 4 oz of PH increaser for initial dose, then 2 oz every 20 minutes with jets on low until spa is balanced.Turn jets on high and add ½ oz of chlorinating granules per 500 gallons of water. Test every half hour and adjust as needed.
